Mipro debuts beatbox microphone at championship tournament
TAIWAN: Mipro recently debuted the MM-59B beatbox microphone while serving as a sponsor of the Asia Beatbox Championship 2016. The event, which was the inaugural edition of the tournament and organised by TWBeatbox.com, was held in Taipei and saw competition between over 180 participants from 18 countries across Asia.
The MM-59B was used by all performers during the tournament as well as the judging panel. The microphone has been designed specifically for beatboxing and to handle high sound pressure level.
‘For beatboxers, the beatbox microphone should be able to sustain extremely high SPLs, otherwise when we make drum sound effects, the high pressure will result in a cracking sound,’ explained Mic Lee, coordinator of TWBeatbox.com. ‘Besides, the frequency response should be extended in the high frequencies as much as possible, thus helping our vocal percussion techniques to be heard clearly. The MM-59 dynamic microphone completely satisfied our requirements.’
‘When we knew they wanted to find a microphone for beatbox, we recommended and custom-made our latest dynamic microphone MM-59,’ added KC Chang, CEO of Mipro. ‘After testing, they really liked the sound quality and we decided to base and develop the MM-59B for them.’
The competition was won by 17-year-old Singaporean, Piratheeban, who is now the reigning Asia champion.
‘The MM-59B has two strong points, its anti-vibration microphone capsule and anti-pop capsule module,’ concluded the Chinese beatbox master known simply as Double. ‘The capsule suspension design can eliminate the resonance from the housing and increase the sound clarity and the frequency from high to low is well covered. The anti-pop grille can be easily detached for easy cleaning and ensures uninterrupted sound reproduction. Based on using beatbox microphones for decades, I have to admit that so far the MM-59B is definitely the best beatbox microphone in the world.’
