New acronyms from Crown
The DriveCore Install (DCi) family of high performance amplifiers is based on Crown’s proprietary DriveCore technology, for which all five models feature Dante networked audio transport. Fully compatible with the HiQnet Audio Architect software application to launch in 8x300W, 8x600W and 4x1,250W configurations, the new amplifiers include DSP with JBL tunings, network control/monitoring and the ability to drive 2/4/8-ohm, 70V and 100V speaker loads out of each channel.
Also integrating DriveCore technology, the CDi DriveCore series – pay careful attention to the order of the letters – has been based on more budget conscious applications, offering a streamlined set of features for small and medium-sized installations. Available in two- or four-channel versions at 300W or 600W per-channel, the amplifiers offer the capability for low impedance (4/8-ohms) in addition to constant voltage with no transformers required, together with both 70V and 100V options. Each model includes DSP to achieve precise speaker tuning and each is also available in a version with the high-bandwidth, low-latency and fault tolerant digital audio bus, Blu Link.
Inputs and outputs can be configured and settings recalled from the front panel, streamlining configuration without a PC. However, comprehensive configuration of the CDi DriveCore and other Harman audio products can be managed via the Audio Architect software. The option of using digital audio with Blu Link simplifies pairing with other products such as a BSS Soundweb London Blu-50, as it simplifies the wiring.
