Once in a Lifetime Cinegy

TURKEY: New free-to-air channel, Lifetime Turkey, installed an IT-based Cinegy solution ahead of its launch. Comprising 10 software modules, including Cinegy Archive and Air Pro, the system is designed ‘for everything from ingest to playout’ and was chosen due to the software house’s proven experience in serving the Turkish television industry.

The recent channel launch of Lifetime Turkey sees A+E Networks expand its portfolio of lifestyle channels by partnering with MCD Medya. The system was commissioned approximately six weeks prior to the channel going live and was installed by Cinegy’s Turkish partner, Orsatek, in under two weeks. Testing and integration were completed during the third week.

‘Cinegy software is widely used in Turkey, one of the world’s most robust television markets,’ said Murat Saygi, consultant at MCD Medya. ‘Not only did we have solid, demonstrable reference sites, we also knew that we would have easy access to local technical support, skilled operators, and experienced users.’

Mr Saygi also noted how Cinegy’s software fulfils the requirements of a linear television channel, such as capturing live and archived materials, editing, scheduling, play out and channel branding, and monitoring and routing, all of which is encompassed within an IP environment. ‘We do not have a single SDI in our system,’ he added. ‘We needed a highly efficient, reliable system that could readily integrate with our traffic systems and A+E Networks’ infrastructure. On those counts alone, Cinegy has already shown itself to be an excellent return on investment.’

‘We’re proud that MCD Medya and Lifetime Turkey have not only placed their confidence in us, but are about to play a major role in validating just what can be achieved in software-defined television,’ chimed Cinegy’s managing director and co-owner, Jan Weigner. ‘We’ve proven time and again that our software can, and will, do not only what we say it can do, but often succeed far beyond initial expectations.’
