Principles of Sound System Design - Philippines
This course presents a logical, intuitive, comprehensive approach to sound system design. It begins with analysis of the room’s acoustics, and uses this information to select and place loudspeakers based on the necessary directivity for achieving acceptable speech intelligibility and music clarity from the complete system. The course demonstrates the modern tools of sound system design, including room acoustics analyzers and computer-aided room modeling.
If you want to really set yourself apart from the competition, learn how to design intelligible systems. As most eventually learn by experience, there is more to it than simply hanging some loudspeakers in a room. You will learn what factors are important regarding speech intelligibility, and even how to measure it.
Pat will walk through the whole process of determining the direct-to-reverberant ratio at a listener position. He shows how to put some numbers to the listening process, and effectively “connect the dots” between room acoustics, loudspeaker directivity and the listener.
