SAE Singapore to cease operations in 2016
SINGAPORE: SAE Creative Media Institute has announced that it will cease operations in Singapore in October 2016, citing ‘rising costs and declining demand for creative media education across Singapore’ plus ‘increased competition’.
The news has been greeted with sadness by much of Singapore’s audio community, with a number of leading industry figures having studied at SAE. The school has now entered what it describes as ‘teach-out’ phase, offering its final intake of diploma and degree students the opportunity to complete their studies. In an official statement, the school assures that ‘all current students will have sufficient time to complete the courses in which they enrolled’.
‘We will be exiting the Singapore market on a high note, having established SAE as a pioneer in creative media education in Asia and educated more than 3,000 students in Singapore during the past 25 years,’ the statement continued. ‘SAE will ensure the Institute’s obligations to staff, students and suppliers are honoured - and will communicate regularly with our stakeholders during the coming months.’
