SF equips Nikki Beach Bodrum
TURKEY: SF Sound and Lighting designed and installed an all Harman solution for the recently opened Nikki Beach Hotel in Bodrum. The company has supplied a variety of systems to cover the hotel’s indoor restaurants, public areas, fitness centre, spas and meeting rooms as well as the outdoor pool, bar and beach areas.
‘Our client, Dogan Holding, contacted us directly and asked us to provide them with professional consultancy for their new hotel,’ recalled SF’s CTO and partner, Ferhan Kayral. ‘We designed the entire A/V system, got their approval for the design and David Budge from Harman came over and helped us to close the deal. The last step was to install the technology.’
The hotel chain has a reputation for its events and entertainment, and as such required a system that could provide even sound across every area of the site while also providing a variety of connection points. To achieve this, SF has called on products from a variety of Harman’s brands. ‘We have used a wide variety of JBL indoor and outdoor speakers driven by Crown amplifiers and processed by BSS Audio DSPs,’ said Mr Kayral. ‘We have also supplied a complete portable sound package with JBL SRX Series powered cabinets in a sub-satellite mode with Soundcraft mixers and AKG wireless and instrument mics which the client can use for many of their events.’
While the project was a smooth one for SF, one of the major challenges came from the hotel’s location close to a residential area of Bodrum. ‘They needed a very unique system which would have high enough sound levels in the open areas such as open bars, dance floors and beach that wouldn’t disturb their neighbours,’ explained Mr Kayral. ‘An acoustic simulation was supplied by the client’s acoustic consultant to keep the sound within the hotel entertainment locations while not disturbing the nearby residences. This called for specially positioned JBL ASB WRX sub arrays in cardioid mode which helped us to ensure that the low frequencies did not travel outside of the hotel.’
Acoustic measurements were used to show that this technique had worked. ‘The measurements taken before the opening of the sound levels in sensitive outdoor locations proved that the design and integration was very successful,’ stated Mr Kayral.
Following the six-week installation project, the SF team is pleased with the results. ‘According to the acoustic consultant’s report, our customer has achieved their requirements for good and even sound quality. The A/V team has a user friendly system calling on high level technology which will remain for a long time,’ reflected Mr Kayral. ‘We are very happy with the result and happy to be part of this highly prestigious project.’
