Shenzhen Redx Audio demystifies SSA technology
CHINA: Redx Audio SSA recently held a high profile product launch at Sofitel Wanda Beijing Hotel titled A New Beat To Amplification Technology. The event attracted more than 500 visitors from China’s pro audio industry, including company leaders, professors, dealers, distributors and the media.
Different demonstration areas were setup during the launch featuring Redx’ Performance, Commercial, Fixed Installation and Consumer series. Visitors could attend the different areas to experience the sound quality of the manufacturer’s audio products.
A 3D video was shown at the start of the product launch that demonstrated the features of the company’s products. The host then introduced the managing director and CTO of Redx, Jonathan Chen, a Beijing-native who has worked for more than 35 years in developing amplification technology and invented SSA technology. He began his presentation with a question: ‘What’s an ideal audio amplifier?’
Mr Chen then described what a single stage amplifier is and compared the differences between a Class-D amplifier and a single stage switch amplifier (SSA). He also shared his reasons for wanting to work on SSA technology. ‘Every customer wants to buy high quality products with a low price, but because of the technical gap in audio products, companies struggle to fulfil both wishes,’ explained Mr Chen. ‘So I hope we can achieve that by working hard and developing high quality, affordable products.’
Mr Chen said that during development its engineers faced a multitude of challenges, requiring thousands of tests to be performed before finding a solution capable of achieving good quality sound. He also emphasised that SSA products have a wide application range, not only in the audio industry, but also in fixed installation, theatres and even the aviation industry.
During his speech, Mr Chen also discussed the hard times he faced when studying abroad and how he conquered these difficulties, expressing his thanks to two of his teachers, Mr Guan and Mr Che. This garnered plenty of applause from the audience.
Redx SSA has an international R&D team of more than 30 people including R&D director Yin Yong, senior chief engineer Jeffrey Vallier, vice president of marketing Ian Stott, as well as doctorate candidates Zhou Xiang and Zhong Shu from Southwest Jiaotong University of China, Dr Lu Jun Wei from Griffith University Australia and R&D director Dale Butler from Redx Australia. Senior chief engineer Mr Vallier took to the stage and explained how to combine SSA technology with audio transmission technology and the concept of power over Internet. Redx vice president of marketing Mr Stott followed this by discussing SSA’s applications in daily life.
After taking answering some of the audience members’ questions, Mr Chen concluded by stating, ‘I am a craftsman. And as a craftsman I have a spirit to make things that are the best. Today is just the beginning and I will need help and support from all of you.’
Shenzhen Redex Audio described the product launch as a great success and has stated that its will continue to operate with its innovative spirit to bring more new technology to the industry.
