Showtech delivers Masala! Awards

Published: MEA

UAE: Dubai-based rental house, Showtech, was once again called upon to supply the technical setup for the Masala! Awards. Held at Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis, the event lauds accomplishments within the Asian community.

The audio side of the event was an all Harman affair. The main rig comprised four JBL VRX 932 LA, the same number of VTX S28 subs, eight of the manufacturer’s V20 Top and four V20 Bass speakers. Power for the system was via four Crown I-Tech HD 9000 amplifiers while a Soundcraft Vi 1 was deployed at FOH. Away from the Harman catalogue, Showtech also employed a Pioneer CDJ 2000 player and DJM 600 Mixer for the DJ setup.

The visual element saw Showtech use its P3 LED screens. A straight 22m x 4m main screen was used in the ballroom with projectors firing onto the two side screens. A smaller 7m x 3m screen served the after party area. A series of Dataton Watchout servers, an LG 21-inch HD monitor and Watchout dongle software v5.2 were also put to use for the event.

Finally, the lighting rig comprised spots from Robe and Claypaky, alongside four Claypaky wash lights. In addition to this, 20 Claypaky Sharpy fixtures, 12 Selecon 2k Fresnels, four ETC source profiles joined more than 60 LED par cans to complete the rig.

According to Showtech, the biggest asset it had for this event was its technical team which has successfully delivered the Masala! Awards for a number of years. The company stated that its team collaborated well in order to deliver the best quality and a perfectly executed awards ceremony.
