CHINA: Due to its size and scale, Wuhan Wanda Dragone Entertainment Co Ltd required 632 intercom positions for its latest production, The Han Show. The entertainment company that is co-owned by Wanda Cultural Industry Group and The Dragone Group selected Clear-Com wired and wireless intercom systems to manage the live production. This has resulted in the largest live performance installation for the manufacturer in China.

Installed were two Eclipse HX-Median digital intercom matrices, each featuring IVC-32 IP-channel and E-FIB-HX fibre optic cards. Completing the setup are eight HelixNet Partyline intercom stations, six FreeSpeak II wireless intercom systems and 30 wireless beltpacks.

‘The most important function of The Han Show’s Clear-Com intercom system is to coordinate and synchronise each participant’s performance, to ensure that the show runs safely and smoothly,’ explained head of the audio department at Wuhan Wanda Dragone Entertainment, Sam Su. ‘The combination of the two Eclipse HX-Median matrices, HelixNet Partyline and FreeSpeak II wireless intercoms covers 632 user positions throughout the entire theatre.’

Staged in the Red Lantern Theatre beside the East Lake of Wuhan City, The Han Show brings Han culture to audiences by way of an acrobatic show consisting of 95 artists, acrobats and water divers, and directed by Franco Dragone of Cirque du Soleil fame. The Clear-Com solution integrated reportedly allows stage managers to communicate with any combination of technical crew and performers with ease, including those in the show’s pool.

‘The flexibility of the system means we can create new talk groups as required,’ added Mr Su. ‘We also appreciate the beltpack’s audio record/playback function that allows users to replay instructions received via the FreeSpeak II, as well as the high audio quality of the headset and microphone which enables clear understanding of each communication.’

‘It is an honour to enable the performance of The Han Show, which has rightly been called the world’s top stage show due to the complexity and artistry of its content,’ concluded Clear-Com’s regional sales manager and chief representative in China, Jeffrey Wu. ‘This is a true celebration of the majesty and depth of Han culture and we are proud to be playing a key role in bringing it to the world stage.’
