Ultimate Ears Pro and Capitol Studios develop custom IEM for high-res audio
Ultimate Ears Pro (UE Pro) has announced its latest custom in-ear monitor, the UE Pro Reference Remastered, an IEM ‘tuned for high-resolution audio.’ This marks Ultimate Ears Pro’s second collaboration with Capitol Studios, the recording facility in Hollywood’s landmark Capitol Tower that boasts a legacy of high-resolution audio recordings.
Having worked together on the original UE Pro Reference Monitor, Ultimate Ears Pro and Capitol Studios engineers once again joined forces to create the UE Pro Reference Remastered. This new custom in-ear monitor is promoted as allowing the user to ‘experience the nuances and details of high-res recordings, whether you’re in the studio, at home or on the road.’
The UE Pro RR uses proprietary True Tone Drivers, said to extend the frequency range, and deliver a flat response to 18kHz so listeners can ‘hear the harmonic structures and overtones that are usually missing from most headphones.’ Capitol’s stated goal for participation in the project was to help ‘deliver music to the fan in a way that’s completely faithful to the original studio recordings.’
In addition to the performance of the components within the UE Pro the custom moulded housings are specified as delivering 26dB of attenuation of environment noise. The replaceable cable harness terminates in an 1/8-inch plug and a 1/4-inch adaptor is included.
