Sony kit stocks NEP Hubs

AUSTRALIA: NEP Australia has equipped its new IP-enabled production ‘Hubs’ with a raft of Sony solutions, including cameras, switchers and monitor screens. The two Hubs, located in Sydney and Melbourne, are due to go live in March 2018 and will reportedly create the world’s largest network of production facilities and enable multiple concurrent outside broadcasts. They will connect 29 sporting venues via a high bandwidth network and be complemented by four new IP OB trucks and seven legacy SDI vehicles.

The Sony equipment includes 36 HDC-4300 cameras that will be deployed at each of the venues, XVS-6000 and XVS-8000 IP-capable switchers and myriad OLED and LCD monitors. ‘NEP committed to an all-IP ecosystem at the Hubs and our new trucks at the beginning of this project,’ explained NEP Australia’s director of technology, Marc Segar. ‘We are therefore very pleased to be partnering with Sony on switchers and camera technologies that complement the rest of our fleet. The 36 new HDC4300 cameras will join the 48 in our current inventory.’
