A new interpreter system designed primarily with usability in mind has been announced by Belgium-based manufacturer Televic Conference. Reportedly the outcome of months of usability studies with free-lance and association interpreters, the Televic Interpreter Desk provides users with simple controls and visual feedback of all essential parameters while occupying up a minimum amount of desk space.
Promising to ‘revolutionise’ portable recording, TASCAM has unveiled two new handheld recorders equipped with Wi-Fi for transport control, file transfer and audio streaming to a smartphone or PC. Named the DR-44WL and DR-22WL, the recorders are both equipped with built-in stereo condenser microphones mounted in a true XY pattern.

Dynamics processing specialist Jünger Audio has launched the D*AP4 VAP Voice Processor, which incorporates a Spectral Signature dynamic EQ offering automatic and dynamic EQ control to balance spectral differences in real-time. By analysing incoming audio and comparing its spectrum with individually predetermined voice 'fingerprints', the unit can automatically apply dynamic EQ corrections to give a consistent sound. Should a performer suffer from a sore throat, for example, on day three of a recording session, the unit will assess the tonal characteristics of the actor's voice on day one and automatically adjust the frequency until both voices match.
