Infrastructure investment from Penn Elcom
WORLD: Flight case and speaker component manufacturer, Penn Elcom, has made a significant investment into new manufacturing equipment and technology across its international sites in the UK, Mexico and China.
The most significant investment has come with the manufacturer’s powder coating lines at all three sites. The factories in both Guangdong Province and Tijuana have both seen Swiss made Gema spraying equipment added to their powder lines, while the UK site has been upgraded to Gema and second booths have been added, so different colours can be sprayed simultaneously and the lines can run without interruptions, stopping or down time.
‘We are looking to the future with these latest – and substantial – investments,’ said Penn Elcom chairman, Roger Willems. ‘While it will cost us more initially, the upgrading will enhance consistency and excellence worldwide in keeping with our global brand philosophy of providing the great looking products and the best service for our clients.’
In addition to the powder equipment, the manufacturer has also invested in more Trumpf CNC punching machines together with forming machines in Mexico. The UK site has had several new machines including a 250 tonne press, a new Hurco CNC machining centre and various new tool-making enhancements. While in China there is a complete new air-conditioning system for the entire production building.
