IRELAND: Although the Redemptoris Mater Archdiocesan Missionary Seminary recently took on new premises in Dundalk, it holds events, celebrations and meetings throughout Ireland that draw in attendees from around the world. It is because of this that the Archdiocese of Armagh-based seminary recently decided to invest in a portable simultaneous translation system.

‘We wanted something that was compact, reliable and portable as we have meetings all over Ireland involving people from many different nationalities,’ confirms Nicola Ondei, who advised the seminary. After exploring options from several manufacturers, a Mipro solution comprising three MTS-100 digital wireless 16-channel transmitters and four MTG-100T ultra-compact portable transmitters was selected. These were paired with 35 MTG-100R portable receivers and supplied by A/V integration specialists AVworx via the manufacturer’s UK distributor, CUK Audio.

‘All the equipment is very easy to transport and, more importantly, extremely easy to use, even for the non-skilled operator,’ declares Mr Ondei. ‘We are also very impressed with the battery life – we can manage on low/medium RF power for a full day conference without having to recharge at all. Finally, the ability to set the RF power to 10mW is particularly useful in difficult acoustic environments like big churches.’
