11th ASEM Summit hits the C-Mark

MONGOLIA: The Shangri-La Hotel in Ulaanbaatar recently hosted the 11th ASEM Summit (Asia-Europe Meeting), attended by leaders from the 21 Asian and 30 European countries that form the ASEM membership, as well as representatives from two intergovernmental organisations. The Chinese government served as the summit’s equipment sponsor and, following a ‘rigorous selection process’, utilised a C-Mark network digital audio reinforcement system to support the audio requirements at the main venue, branch meeting venue and press centre. Meanwhile, a Taiden new-generation paperless multimedia congress system was used to facilitate discussion.

ASEM was formed in 1996 as a forum for establishing and maintaining relationships and cooperation between the countries involved from both continents. The theme of the 11th ASEM summit was ‘20 Years of ASEM: Partnership for the Future through Connectivity’ and saw discussion of safety, partnership and development. Among the political figures in attendance were the Premier of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang, and Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.

Technical support of the sound equipment used onsite was provided by a site engineer from C-Mark who was tasked with tight deadlines to get the audio system up and running smoothly with no room for error at such a high-profile event. The audio reinforcement system comprised C-Mark’s Audionet network platform alongside a variety of the manufacturer’s digital amplifiers and CT2844X and FT04 loudspeakers. This system reportedly assisted the engineer in beating his deadline with its simple installation, while allowing for easy operation and precise configuration.

Setup was completed in just a few days, with the solution administering uniform sound throughout the different areas of the venue with accurate sound reproduction in addition to facilitating real-time remote control. The system was described as providing a ‘good and stable live performance’ during the summit and received excellent feedback from the organisers, attendees and officials.
