A marriage contract between Hyoung Woo Roh and Eve Audio

KOREA: Hyoung Woo Roh has selected a 2.2 Eve Audio system comprising a couple of SC305 three-way system monitors and a pair of TS108 active subwoofers. The composer of soundtracks for Korean movies, television and videogames selected the studio monitor solution after testing various models for the power he required at each frequency range as well as the natural and transparent sound reproduction desired for his work.

To begin with, Mr Roh was unconvinced by the inclusion of a subwoofer to his setup, but was persuaded once he heard the SC305s with the TS108s. Even then the composer and music director was not fully sold on a 2.2 system. ‘I started with only one TS108,’ he noted. ‘However, while working on especially widely scaled music for film and TV dramas, I understood the advantages of a 2.2 system. For example, there is a big difference between stereo-monitoring and mono-monitoring of sources under 120Hz frequency. For stereo monitoring on 8 inch woofers or smaller, I often used to rely on my personal sense. But with two subs in the 2.2 system I can effectively and properly monitor low frequencies.’

The Eve 2.2 system setup has also come in handy for Mr Roh when composing orchestral music, as the SC305 reportedly offers a wider stereo image that he states, ‘helps me position the instruments properly and easily’. The composer also noted that advantages of the system when composing the entire soundtrack for Korean television series Marriage Contract. ‘With the 2.2 system, I felt safe when monitoring my music for the series,’ added Mr Roh. ‘The SC305s and TS108s are definitely my favourite monitoring system.

‘They are the perfect choice, also for when space is limited and the room is not perfectly acoustically treated,’ he concluded.
