A TW Audio solution for Teddy Boy

INDIA: Just south of Central Park in New Delhi is Teddy Boy, a café, bar and restaurant that styles itself on the British subculture of the same name. Teddy Boy as a style emerged in 1950s Britain and saw men adopt the clothing fashion of the Edwardian era from 40 years earlier; Teddy Boy in New Delhi, which opened recently, greets visitors with a large Union Jack adorning one of the walls and staff dressed in attire reflecting the period that it has taken inspiration from. Although in many ways it hopes to transport its guest to a bygone era, a modern sound system was sought that could provide background music as patrons enjoyed dinner, while also being able to cater for louder applications, including when a DJ is brought in and the venue transforms into a heaving dance floor. Dipankar Grover, A/V systems integrator from Faridabad-based Sound Redefined, was contracted to install a solution that he designed with Krishna Singh from TW Audio India.
The main PA comprises a pair of T24N loudspeakers, which are complemented by four B30 subwoofers installed in the bar area. The seated sections of the venue have been equipped with four M10 and two M12 compact speakers, delivering a lower volume to allow patrons the opportunity to enjoy conversation. The entire system is powered by a series of Powersoft amplifiers, including an M50Q, an M14D and a pair of K3DSPs.
‘The design of the venue gave my team a foundation for how we wanted the acoustics to come across and, although it was quite a task, I am sure we delivered the best sound quality that relates well to the venue’s décor,’ said Mr Grover. ‘It still is amazing how clean and transparent the sound is and the fact there is no ear fatigue is incredible. Also, the quality in mechanical engineering is hard to beat. In my opinion there really is no comparison.’
