CHINA: Chinese Harman distributor Associated Communication Equipment Ltd (ACE) hosted its 2010 Open House Conference at the Oriental Green Boat Hotel in Shanghai, from October 16th to 20th, taking the theme ‘We build, we share’. Among those in attendance was Harman Professional Audio president Blake Augsburger.
The conference saw members of the ACE team presenting details of recent high profile ACE projects, including the iconic China Pavilion within the 2010 Shanghai Expo. Among those making the presentations were ACE technical director Roger Hayler, who discussed the Expo opening ceremony, which included more than 450 speakers placed at each bank of the Huangpu River; Ms Pan Guihua, who introduced the amplifier installation within the Expo’s Culture Centre arena; and Long Jiabin, who concentrated on the Expo park’s 26 outdoor touring systems. Finally, Liu Tao presented the structure and operation of the amplification systems used for China’s 60th Anniversary celebrations in October.
Other projects discussed included the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the National Grand Theatre, the Shanghai Gymnasium, the Boao Forum for Asia and the distributor’s participation in the 2008 Olympic Games.
‘ACE is our long-term cooperative partner and we have been working together for a very long time,’ commented Mr Augsburger. ‘ACE has made great achievements and we are keen to give them more support and to make our products more competitive in China by exploring new applications and markets.’
ACE executive vice president, Lu Zhiqiang, added: ‘In the past 10 years, we have gone through ups and downs and we are thankful for everyone’s support at this critical moment. 2010 is ACE’s year and this is not only a slogan but the beginning of a new milestone. We are hoping our colleagues can supply more market information via feedback to Harman’s R&D departments, meaning more new products can be designed and produced for the Chinese market.’
