AD-Systems arrives in Korea with Ecose

KOREA: German loudspeaker manufacturer AD-Systems GmbH & Co KG has entered the Korean market courtesy of a distribution deal with Seoul-based supplier Ecose. The two companies announced the agreement to Pro Audio Asia during the recent Pro Light and Sound exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, though they have been working together since early January and are already undertaking two high-profile installation projects.
Located in Wesel, Germany and led by CEO Sven Haferkamp, AD-Systems manufactures a broad range of loudspeaker systems and supporting electronics. The company’s products are largely dedicated to the rental and fixed installation markets, while Pro Light & Sound saw it debut extensions to its well-received Touring-Series.
Ecose’s Tommy Kim reportedly contacted the manufacturer having previously learned about the brand and its products at PL&S 2013. According to Mr Haferkamp, ‘the chemistry between AD-Systems and Ecose was right from the start’, and negotiations for the distribution arrangement lasted just one week prior to the deal being struck.
Regarding his expectations for the Korean market, Mr Haferkamp acknowledged the amount of work required to establish AD-Systems within the territory. ‘It is a big market but we’re not yet well known there so for us it’s new,’ he explained. ‘Our expectation is that Ecose will do a serious job and we will support them as much as possible in that.’ He added that activity is expected to include ‘seminars, workshops, trade shows – all of the things that are necessary to push a brand and generate the right perception in the market’.
Speaking for Ecose, Mr Kim was equally enthusiastic regarding the agreement and the brand’s potential. ‘Our plan is to position the brand very carefully,’ he explained. ‘It is a high-end brand – because the products are made in Germany they carry a lot of respect and expectation. We have very high hopes for AD-Systems and we have already undertaken two projects, both of which are currently ongoing. They will be good references for us and we will start from there.’
