Allen & Heath console helps Chengdu bar go wireless

CHINA: A private lounge bar in Chengdu has been equipped with a comprehensive audio installation including app-based wireless control via an Allen & Heath Qu-16 digital mixer. Named the Run Li Xin Private Lounge, the venue turned to EZPro for a solution that offered flexibility of control as well as high-end performance.
‘The brief from the lounge’s owners was to install well known audio and lighting products, with an attractive appearance to match the interior style,’ commented EZPro technical manager Mr Lian. ‘They wanted hi-fi sound quality, and most important of all, a system with high efficiency and ease of use.’
Fulfilling that brief is a design based on EAW Avalon enclosures and driven by Powersoft K and M series amplification. A central TV wall is flanked by left and right Avalon Club.three enclosures, powered by K3 and M14D amps, with a Sub.two subwoofer for low-end extension. Two Club.four enclosures, located in the rear of the room, complete the system. An EAW UX8800 provides processing.
The Qu-16 console is located within the venue’s DJ booth, but it can be operated remotely via Allen & Heath’s Qu iPad app, meaning engineers don’t need to disturb customers to make an adjustment.
‘The Qu-16 is easy to use – I can choose to operate the system on the physical surface, or via an iPad,’ the owner of Run Li Xin was reported as commenting. ‘In such a venue, this is exactly the mixing and control equipment that I am looking for. The hi-fi audio quality brings a large low-frequency thump and punch. The whole system is easy to control and perfectly matched with the interior decoration. It looks in keeping and sounds so great, I am very satisfied.’
