AMS Neve console bolsters Malaysian post facility

MALAYSIA: Based within the Pinewood Malaysia complex in Johor Bahru, postproduction house Imagica SEA has completed the installation of a large-format AMS Neve DFC Gemini. The console now sits at the heart of the company’s main dubbing theatre.

A leading name in Japanese postproduction, Imagica opened its South East Asia facility in 2014 with a Dolby certified Atmos Stage, online and offline edit suites and digital cinema delivery (DCP) archiving, restoration and digital distribution management. In addition, the main dubbing theatre has recently completed certification as a Dolby Atmos Premier mixing stage. Three more AMS Neve consoles, two Genesys Blacks in the ADR and foley suites and another DFC Gemini in the Pre-mix theatre, have been installed in the last two years.

‘Our sound supervisor, Hiro, is familiar with the DFC console, having mixed several projects at studios in Japan,’ explained Imagica SEA marketing manager, Ken Kusaka. ‘The operation is reliable, the automation is intuitive and the Native support and integration of Atmos mixing was important. We love the feel of the faders and logicators and we have had brilliant technical support from AMS Neve, which has made our lives incredibly easy.’
