Audio Academy partners with Britannia Row Productions Training

INDIA: Bangalore’s Audio Academy has joined forces with London, UK-based Britannia Row Productions to offer students and graduates of either school the opportunity to complete internships at each other’s academies. Lasting from four to eight weeks, the exchange programme is designed to provide students with professional and real-world experience in two contrasting cultures.

Bangalore’s Audio Academy is run by CEO Vauhini Venugopal and offers students courses on recording and live sound, electronic music production, system design and alignment and audio fundamentals, as well as customised courses for specific purposes. The academy also boasts a ‘state-of-the-art’ boutique studio and a range of live sound equipment from manufacturers including ADAM Audio, API, Avid, Inward Connections, Meyer Sound, Midas and Soundcraft.

Britannia Row Productions offers students a similar educational programme to Audio Academy, designed to give students a life-like, hands-on approach to training. ‘Vauhini got in touch and floated the proposal of Britannia Row Productions Training and Audio Academy collaborating in this way,’ explained Mike Lowe, director at Britannia Row Productions. ‘I found the proposition very interesting. We have always been international in our approach. Around half of our engineers and technicians are non–British and we have audio friends, and therefore resources, living all over the world who have trained at Britannia Row. The world continues to get smaller and India continues to grow within that world.’

The first Indian student to take part in the exchange has already been selected. ‘We are expecting our very first intern from Audio Academy this month,’ furthered Mr Lowe. ‘Two of our students have already toured India since graduating and came back much stronger for it, so I am also looking forward to our students taking up the offer of spending time in Bangalore. I know they will benefit hugely from the experience.

‘We hope that the interns will get a good insight into the way we do things here and gain experience working with international artists and acts. We also want those interns who wish to work beyond India to be able to do so with greater confidence, and for those working within India to be able to deal with visiting international acts. What both Audio Academy and Britannia Row are confident of, however, is that both travel and working in another country broadens the mind.’

‘Today the world has become borderless in a socio-commercial sense and those who wish to succeed need to broaden their wings and obtain exposure far beyond their national boundaries,’ added Ms Venugopal. ‘Hence I am very happy to see the partnership between Audio Academy and Britannia Row Productions take shape, which will be of immense benefit to our students and budding graduates.’
