BCUBE refreshes outdoor audio at Tanjong Beach Club

SINGAPORE: Hailed as one of the world's best beach clubs, Tanjong Beach Club is a remote sanctuary lying at the end of the beach-lined road in Sentosa. On weekdays, this peaceful hideaway from Singapore's urban sprawl hosts corporate events and weary travellers seeking solitude, but over the weekends it is transformed into a vibrant club. A newly installed DAS Audio speaker system now pumps Sunshine Soul, Balearic House, Beach Boogie and Horizontal Dance from intimate parties to full-blown beach festivals.

BCUBE is best known in Singapore as a production company supplying sound and lighting technology together with expertise for mobile events and road-shows. Its subsidiary BCUBE Live Sound & Production provides technical solutions to Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) events. When called upon by Tanjong Beach Club to provide an audio upgrade into the outdoor beach area, BCUBE Entertainment insisted on a DAS Audio system having been a user of the Spanish brand since 2011.

‘The owner had two main concerns with the outdoor audio here,’ commented BCUBE’s managing director Christopher Ang. ‘Firstly, the extremely high heat, humidity and rainfall. Secondly, a nearby private beach house would need to be kept on friendly terms by directing the audio dispersion away from their property.’ The resultant system supplied by Shin Taiyou Technology Pte Ltd combines six DAS Audio WR6412 cabinets located by the main stage and pool area with a further six WR-8826 speakers in the palm trees on the beach.

Both the treated birch plywood and fibreglass exterior models are IP56-certified and are therefore weather resistant to these harsh equatorial elements. Operating within a 60Hz–20kHz, the 300W AES power rated WR6412 speakers have all been directed out towards the sea. The compression drivers are married to 60-degrees x 40-degrees dispersion horns, hence containing the audio characteristics on the resort’s beach with little spillage.

Powered by previously existing Ashly Audio amplifiers and managed by a DAS Audio DSP-4080 processor, the speakers received new cabling through existing trunking.
