Beyerdynamic’s Orbis secures Red Dot Design Award
Published: ASIA

WORLD: Beyerdynamic has announced that components of its Orbis wired conference system have received the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015. The system was the winning entry in the communications category.
The Orbis components that were submitted and received the award include the MU 43 flush mount microphone units with separate CA OL loudspeaker module, the Classis RM 31 Q vertical microphone array and the Orbis CU control unit.
Winners of the Red Dot product design award are judged based on functionality, durability, ergonomics, formal quality, ecological compatibility and degree of innovation. According to the manufacturer, a clear aesthetic was followed for the design of the conference system – with straight edges and tight radii characterising the overall appearance. It also outlines the fact that operating elements have been reduced to the essential and support the functionality of the system with their shape, position and size.
