Big A goes with K-array at album launch

MALAYSIA: Big A Productions deployed a K-array system at the launch of SonaOne’s album, Growing Up Sucks, which took place at Kuala Lumpur’s Lust nightclub. The production company opted to use the manufacturer’s KR402 system, bypassing the nightclub’s resident system having successfully employed it during previous notable projects.
The solution Big A Productions utilised consisted of four KP102 Python loudspeakers stationed above two KMT21 subwoofers. Four KF12MT self-powered speakers were positioned for delays and floor monitors, as well as a couple of KO40 Concert Series sub bass speakers.
‘When we were requested to handle the production for the launch, we immediately decided to use the KR402 portable system for several reasons: its excellent line of sight, clarity and coverage,’ explained Big A Productions’ founder, owner, head of production and audio engineer Anthony Noel Yap. ‘Having used the system for other high profile events, we were confident that it would be more than capable of exceeding all expectations.
‘We encountered one difficulty with the venue which was the balcony as it effectively blocked half of the intended audience,’ Mr Yap added. ‘We were able to work around it by using the KF12MT multi-purpose speakers as delays along with the KO40 loudspeakers (all time aligned) for wider coverage and extended low frequency throw. Headroom was more than ample as we were able to achieve the necessary SPL with sufficient impact for the full house crowd. It was evident that everyone really enjoyed the show.’
