Brunei ICC chooses Bosch’s DCN for ASEAN

BRUNEI:  In time for the annual conference of ASEAN, the Association of South East Asian nations, Bosch has overcome a host of technical challenges to install its DCN next generation conference system into the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Brunei. The main hall of the ICC, The Planery hall, presented high ceilings, reflective walls, and an awkward layout.

The objective of the installation was to ensure that the foreign ministers and heads of states attending the ASEAN conference had the most coherent conference environment, with requirements including an interruption-free system and high speech legibility. In a room with as much reverberation as the Plenary Hall, upsizing the speaker system is not possible. To get round this acoustical problem JM Technology - Bosch’s appointed installer - decided to dedicate a high fidelity monitor to each delegate. The DCN system and the use of small, individual monitors maximised the space in the hall and meant that delegates were able to leave their mobile phone switched on throughout without causing any disturbance to the sound.

This was not the only challenge, however. To help attendees understand their fellow delegates clearly, an integrated interpretation system and individual LCD screens supplied with a signal from Bosch’s HD automatic camera controls enabled unrestricted coverage of the presenters.

The fixed installation of Bosch’s DCN into the ICC means that the management no longer has to rely on rental companies to provide conference systems, cutting down the preparation time considerably. A spokesperson for ASEAN added: ‘We are very impressed with the overall performance of the products installed, especially the quality of sound produced’.
