Christie brings art to life at SeMA 2016

KOREA: An ongoing exhibition by French artist Pierre Huyghe at the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) is being illuminated with M Series projectors from Christie. Running from September 1st to 20th as part the SeMA Biennale MediaCity Seoul 2016 festival, the short 19-minute film is displayed on large screen and illuminated by a 10,000-lumen Christie HD10K-M 3DLP which was installed by Christie Korea partner, YoungJin Visual Technology.

Named Untitled (Human Mask), the short film, probably Huyghe’s most famous work to date, is a story inspired by a real situation in Japan in which a monkey, wearing the mask of a young woman, is trained to work as a waitress in an abandoned Japanese city devastated by recent disasters. The action takes place inside a desolate restaurant/bar that’s inhabited by the masked monkey, which acts out the human condition in a forsaken world.

‘SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul is one of the most renowned international media art festivals in Korea and we are very pleased to showcase award-winning French artist Pierre Huyghe’s short film using Christie’s cutting-edge projection technology to deliver the best visual experience to audiences,’ said Tony Lim, GM, YoungJin Visual Technology. ‘The grayish colour palette used by Huyghe to portray a lonely, desolate world has been beautifully presented by the Christie HD10K-M projector, which is well-known for delivering bright and lifelike visuals. Audiences watching this short film are in for a wonderful visual treat.’
