Christie brings Dreams of the Great Wall to life

CHINA: The Dreams of the Great Wall 3D Dome Theatre recently opened to the public at the most visited section of the Great Wall of China: Badaling. Established by SanXian Culture Holdings to provide tourists with a cultural and entertaining attraction featuring projection, audio and motion technologies, the theatre features an 18m diameter, 180° dome with 6K resolution visual effects provided by 10 Christie Boxer 4K30 3DLP projectors, designed, installed and commissioned by authorised Christie partner Wincomn Technology. These were reportedly chosen for their resolution, as well as for brightness, their omnidirectional deployment capabilities and reliability.

‘The end-user had very high expectations of the projection system and our task was to create a high quality 3D dome theatre featuring bright and colorful visuals by Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors to complement realistic audio and motion effects,’ recalled Wincomn Technology general manager Tony Chen. ‘Our design and engineering teams completed the project in six months and were meticulous in ensuring that the high standards were met.’

Client expectations were met and surpassed as Wincomn Technology was also presented with awards of recognition for the project. ‘Our heartiest congratulations to our longstanding partner Wincomn Technology on the completion of yet another major project using our flagship Boxer 4K30 projectors,’ said Christie China general manager Jason Pei. ‘We’re delighted that the end-user is satisfied with the end results.’

In addition to the images projected by the Boxer 4K30s, visitors also experience surround sound and movement from six-axis motion seats.
