Clear-Com Eclipse Pico installed into Chinese broadcaster

CHINA: Guangxi TV has acquired a Clear-Com Eclipse Pico digital matrix intercom system to improve the communications between its five production studios and master control room. The system was supplied by Beijing Century Sage Scientific System, Ltd (CSS).

Located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Province, Guangxi TV is a provincial station producing round-the-clock programming on six different local channels plus one satellite channel. The broadcaster has traditionally used other partyline products but opted for an intercom upgrade to achieve multiple connections and additional mobility within its studios. The supplied system comprises two Eclipse PiCo systems alongside nine V-Series panels, one Tempest 2400 digital wireless base station with five wireless Belt Stations, and VoICE 2.0 and SoFT-VoICE software.

The Eclipse PiCo system – equipped with 36 full-duplex panel / 4-wire ports in a 1RU height rack mounted unit – is specifically designed for small-to-mid-size production facilities such as Guangxi TV, while the four-channel Tempest2400 base station, equipped with five mobile 2.4GHz BeltStations, is designed to transmit audio in difficult RF environments. The wireless BeltStations also reportedly provide additional flexibility and mobility for staff members moving between the multiple studios and departments.

‘Our viewers rely on us to deliver news and entertainment on a daily basis,’ explained Mao Zheng, director of Guangxi TV’s Production Centre. ‘The success of Guangxi TV relies on seamless communication between its multiple studios, especially during live broadcasts. Clear-Com’s intercom systems have an excellent reputation in China. We were impressed with how well the systems improved communications at other television stations and wanted the same for ours.’
