ASIA: Danish Interpretation Systems (DIS) has recently enjoyed three high profile installations throughout Asia, taking in the Philippines, Thailand and China for events as varied as the 2010 Climate Investment Funds Partnership Forum and a meeting in Bangkok aimed towards helping to ease regional political unrest
In Manilla, official DIS distributor Micro Data Systems and Management supplied the Asian Development Bank with a conferencing system capable of dealing with five languages distributed to more than 100 delegates over several sessions. Intended for use at the 2010 Climate Investment Funds Partnership Forum – attended by delegates from Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and the US – the system included more than 400 conference microphones. In the main hall a DIS CU6011 central unit tied the installation together, with 200 DM6010P digital delegate units. Three analogue systems served smaller halls.
Meanwhile in Thailand the 122nd IPU (Inter-Parliamentary Union) Assembly and Related Meetings drew together 2,400 delegates from more than 140 countries discussing ‘Parliament at the Heart of Political Reconciliation and Good Governance’.
Hosted by the Thai National Assembly, the Assembly was supplied with a DIS system by BICS2000, with ‘more than four tons of equipment shipped from Copenhagen to Bangkok and installed’ within five days, according DIS rental project manager Nalle Vikstroem. Included were more than 2,400 digital infrared receivers, 700 digital conferencing units, 33 interpreter’s booths for 11 languages in six parallel sessions plus additional audio and visual systems.
Finally, China’s largest power company, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has opted for a DIS System 6000 within a new conference room at its regional office in Liaoning, Shenyang City. A CU6011 central unit ties the installation together, with three DC6990P units and 44 DM6680P delegate units. The system was supplied by Wincomn Technology.
