Dante AV Networking World attracts record attendance at ISE 2015

WORLD: Visitors to this year’s ISE show in Amsterdam were treated to a broad range of educational offerings, however one of hottest topics this year was undoubtedly the continued rise of audio networking technologies – with numerous seminars and presentations conducted on this subject throughout the show. A notable example of this was Audinate’s Dante AV Networking World – an all-day event taking place just before the show opened.

‘We were incredibly pleased with this year’s Dante AV Networking World event,’ enthused Joshua Rush, vice president of marketing for Audinate. ‘We had nearly 200 people in attendance, an increase of over 40 per cent from last year, which really speaks to the interest in Dante among the installation community.’

The programme for the day included a number of presentations, training workshops and interactive panel discussions led by industry design consultants, A/V installation contractors and IT networking experts. These covered a number of different subjects ranging from overall trends in A/V networking to interesting Dante implementations around the world – including special presentations from Electronics & Engineering’s Vincent Tan, about its Singapore Sports Hub project, and from Stagetec Australia’s Mark Lownds, regarding the use of a networked public address system for Sydney Trains.

‘What I find amazing is the variety of Dante installations that have been presented over the years,’ furthered Audinate’s Ervin Grinberg. ‘What started out five years ago with just a small number of live sound applications has now grown exponentially to all audio markets worldwide. I’ve had participants coming up to me all the time thanking us for the seminar and letting me how easy it’s been to use Dante in their installations.’

Key to the technology’s success and rapid adoption has been its ability to link equipment from different manufacturers into an integrated system. To showcase this aspect, the event featured a major interoperability demonstration of Dante-enabled products and systems.

The Open Control Architecture (OCA) Alliance also used this year’s ISE as a platform to spread its ‘open-standards’ message to the wider market, and Ethan Wetzell, platform strategist, Bosch Communications Systems contributed a presentation on OCA at the Dante event.

‘This session looked at the impact that emerging technologies and standards have had on the industry, in shaping technological and application innovations,’ Mr Wetzell explained. ‘By looking back at how technologies evolve, to enable new applications and solutions, we also took a look how the A/V industry is evolving today and into the future, and the role that open standards like OCA have in promoting this evolution.’

The success of ISE’s Dante AV Networking World has led Audinate to plan a series of regional events beginning in the US and Europe, as well as another large-scale event planned for InfoComm in June. Upcoming events and seminars can be found on the ‘Events’ section of the Audinate website.
