CHINA: OLA Live House has opened at the Sun Palace entertainment complex in Nanjing. The venue was established by folk rock singer-songwriter Li Zhi, who approached DAS Audio’s Chinese distributor, Chao GanGuan, to deliver a sound solution that would deliver on sound quality and reliability.
Chao GanGuan technical director German Rodriguez led the project, working alongside Shanghai Yuanxing, which assisted with the construction and installation of the system.
‘OLA Live House has an irregular layout with practically no right angles,’ stated Mr Rodriguez. ‘The stage is off centre with respect to the volume of the room and there is a small stand on a mezzanine at the back of the room that is not centered on the stage. There is a large LED screen down stage, which makes it difficult to choose the place to hang the sound system, because we can’t block audience visibility.’
Li Zhi’s sound technician also worked closely with Mr Rodriguez on the project to ensure the system met all of the venue’s needs by running simulations on DAS Audio’s EASE Focus 3 software.
The system installed draws upon the DAS Audio Event Series. Six Event 210A line array systems are set up on each side of the stage, while four Event 218A subwoofers sit in front of it. Front-fill is via with four Artec 508 loudspeakers and monitoring is courtesy of eight Action M12 stage monitors. A DSP 4080 handles processing and control.
