KOREA: DasanSR together with sister company, Rhino Sound, has concluded a 20th anniversary tour across Korea with dancing and singing group, Cool. Beginning at the Jamsil Gymnasium in Seoul, DasanSR chose to support the 10-show tour with a ‘simple system’ comprising EAW loudspeakers and Powersoft amps.
‘Cool is a very well known Korean group from the 1990s who has consistently won awards and has a huge following across Korea,’ explained Rhino Sound systems engineer, Gwon Seung Cheoul, who oversaw the entire sound set up for the tour. ‘They are true icons so we were first of all very pleased to be a part of this anniversary showcase.’
While the setup was adjusted slightly to match each venue requirements, the core FOH setup for each concert comprised 16 Anya elements in L/R hangs with eight SB2001 subwoofers and four KF730 cabinets providing front fill – powered by 12 Powersoft K10DSPs and eight K3s at most of the venues. An additional four Otto subwoofers were deployed for the final show. A further eight K2DSP and four K10s were deployed to power the EAW MW12 and MW15 stage monitors and a Dolby Lake processor provided system processing. ‘With the EAW Anya, it was a quick and easy set up, and utilising Powersoft amps certainly enabled us to deliver powerful and clean sound throughout,’ added Mr Cheoul.
‘Cool’s performance style was diverse and varied, which required dynamic sound and high dynamic range from the amps,’ explained Mr Cheoul. ‘With Powersoft, we achieved just that. We introduced the Powersoft X series for the last show, employing two X8s. We had 16 channels for the monitors and it was amazing.’
Aside from the sound system, DasanSR and Rhino Sound selected an Avid Venue Profile 4DSP console at FOH, an Avid SC48 for the monitor mix, eight channels of Sennheiser’s EW300 G3 wireless IEMs and 12 channels of Shure’s UR4D wireless microphone system.
Rhino sound supported the tour with a five-man team, with concerts taking place in Busan, Seoul, Daegu, Iisan, Bucheon, Jeonju, Ulsan, Daejeon and Gwangju.
