Dev Electronics provides PA for BarBar in Mumbai and Pune

INDIA: India's BarBar chain of casual bars are designed to be contemporary venues that are attracting the country's youth by offering unique deals on food and drinks. A couple of BarBar facilities, located in Mumbai and Pune, have opted for a comprehensive audio system from manufacturer Power X as the venues aim for a high-quality setup. Both arrangements were designed and commissioned by Mumbai-based Dev Electronics. Led by Ketan Shetty, the company devised an audio solution for each venue, where placement of loudspeakers, power solutions and acoustical properties were considered before designing the PA.
Both BarBar venues include eight units of the PowerX FP10 two way compact loudspeakers, along with two units of the 118S subwoofer. They are powered using Pro3000 and Pro4000 power amplifiers in active use, while a single dbx260 loudspeaker management processor is used for all routing and processing applications. In addition, the Pune venue also includes two PowerX PF8 two-way compact loudspeakers and the DJ booth boasts gear from Pioneer, including DJM 900 NXS2 mixers and CDJ 2000 NXS2 players.
There were multiple challenges encountered throughout the project, including working around the low ceiling of the indoor section. Both the loudspeakers and the flying points had to consider this space, to ensure that the lights and decorative fixtures would not obstruct the projection path of any loudspeaker. Placements for the subwoofers were also suggested by Dev Electronics, as they looked for spaces that allowed for the energy to be focused on the dancefloor without low-frequency cancellations.
‘The pro audio system has improved the overall ambience of the venues to a great extent,’ praised the management at BarBar. ‘The owners are extremely happy with the overall sound quality as well as the look and placement of the loudspeakers. The entire setup looks neat and attractive, and the performance is absolutely spot on!’
