DiGiCo goes K-Pop in Korea

KOREA: Seoul-based PA rental company Artmix has purchased a DiGiCo SD7 digital console from local distributor, Soundus. The console was quickly put to work, with one of its first major outings taking place at the Samsung Holgabun Festival. The one-day event at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium featured a number of K-Pop artists including Kim Yeon-woo, Lena Park, Shin Seung-hun and Jang Beom-june.
Artmix, which took delivery of the SD7 in early May, already has a selection of DiGiCo consoles, including SD8s, in its hire stock. This is the company’s first SD7. ‘We were looking for a good new digital console, and DiGiCo is right at the top of the market, in my opinion,’ said Paul Yun, president and CEO of Artmix. ‘It’s very intuitive, has great EQ and so many useful features; it’s the best DiGiCo console we’ve had to date. At this event, it’s proving very good for quick changeovers between the four different acts. Settings can be recalled very easily during turnaround.’
A d&b J Series was deployed by Artmix as the main front of house PA system, while another DiGiCo, this time an SD5, was used onstage as the monitor console. The company is planning to use the SD7 on events throughout the summer, including the country’s three-day Ansan Rock Festival in July.
