DJ QuestionMark selects Eve Audio

TAIWAN: Taiwanese DJ, music producer and sound engineer Stephen Ying has added a pair of Eve Audio SC208s to his personal studio. Also known as DJ QuestionMark, Mr Ying’s latest projects include the music production for Artistry on Ice, one of the largest ice skating events in Asia. He also won the DMC Taiwan turntable competition in 2011 before going on to represent Taiwan at the DMC World Championship in the UK. The new 5-inch studio monitors were supplied through Audio Solution.

‘I realised the 5-inch monitors I previously used did not satisfy my needs for sound quality anymore and so I started looking for a speaker that provides more detail in the low and low-mid frequencies,’ explained Mr Ying. ‘I looked for a 7- or 8-inch monitor to fit equally into my home studio and budget. When I listen to monitors depth of sound is important to me, high frequencies should not be sharp, the lows should be tight and the mids crystal clear.

‘We carried out A/B comparisons of a number of brands in an intense listening session, and I realised I love the sound quality of Eve,’ Mr Ying continued. ‘We listened to dance, jazz and funk, but no matter what was played the sound reproduction was always very clear and open. I also listened to some of my own work. No matter if it was a studio recording or a live performance, any flaws were immediately detected. For me, Eve has the most suitable monitors that I have ever encountered. The accuracy in my work has dramatically increased and I’m very satisfied.

‘The monitors were a bit more expensive than I thought but I do not regret my purchase at all. At night, when I work at a lower volume the quality is still the same and I can work longer without my ears getting tired,' Mr Ying concluded. 'My deepest gratitude to EVE Audio and Audio Solution for allowing me to experience such wonderful monitors.’
