INDONESIA: One of Indonesia’s largest cinema chains, Cinema 21, has announced plans to install Dolby Atmos in 100 of its screens in the coming months. The announcement has made Indonesia one of the largest adopters of Dolby Atmos in the Asia Pacific region, with a total of 200 screens installed or due to be installed.
‘With consumers becoming more discerning these days, Cinema 21 believes in constantly offering revolutionary and state-of-the art technologies to our patrons to ensure the most epic movie experiences,’ said Catherine Keng, corporate secretary, Cinema 21. ‘We have seen an incremental rise in box office taking with the current Dolby Atmos screens installed. The groundbreaking sound technology is certainly the way to go, and moving forward, audiences will be spoilt for choice with hopefully more than 100 Dolby Atmos screens to select from in Indonesia.’
‘Dolby is honoured that Cinema 21 has chosen to equip 100 of its screens with the immersive Dolby Atmos sound technology,’ added Pankaj Kedia, senior regional director, India and South East Asia, Dolby Laboratories. ‘With Dolby Atmos, the audience is no longer just watching a movie; they are experiencing it. We are confident that moviegoers will go back again and again for the extraordinary experience that only Dolby Atmos can deliver.’
