AUSTRALIA: Echo Sports Network (ESN), a newly-launched television channel based in Canberra that broadcasts amateur sporting events, selected PlayBox Technology’s AirBox Neo as its playout solution. The system was purchased through local PlayBox dealer Redwood’s Technology Solutions.
‘We needed a software solution we could use on our existing servers and something that was cost-effective to kick-off,’ explained Lyle Cameron from ESN. ‘We have ambitious growth plans and PlayBox has CloudAir, the IP-based remote management system that we plan to introduce in the future.’
Described by the manufacturer as a ‘channel-in-a-box’, AirBox Neo is designed for continuous and unattended operation. It supports SD, HD and UHD and steaming inputs such as HTTP, HTTP Secure, UDP, RTMP, MMS, MMSH and YouTube. ESN reportedly chose the system due to its ease of use.
‘The industry is demanding faster channel startup, higher quality standards and scalable metadata-based content management,’ said Brad Redwood, from Redwood’s Technology. ‘PlayBox Technology has years of experience which enable our customers to achieve this within a sensible investment budget.’
