Eclipse relies on EV for Manly Jazz Festival

AUSTRALIA: Spread over 11 days, the free and outdoor Manly Jazz Festival has become a major event on the Sydney calendar. Taking place against the backdrop of the famous Manly Surf Beach, the festival saw Eclipse Lighting and Sound enlisted to construct five separate stages, each powered by a combination of EV speakers and Dynacord amps.

Taking a whole day to erect, the main stage was powered by a sound system comprising an EV XLC line array and Dynacord H5000 amplifiers with RCM26 DSP modules. Additional XW12 loudspeakers served as monitors and four ZLX loudspeakers were used for in-fill.

Stage two, the second largest, was located down the Manly Corso. Electro-Voice X-Array XN and XDS loudspeaker systems were deployed together with ZX5 monitors and X-Array Xi-1152s as out-fill speakers.

Three smaller stages scattered around the tourist precinct were outfitted with ZXA1, ELX, ZX5, ZLX, Xsub, and DMS1122 systems. With space in and around these stages tight, the Eclipse team reportedly relied upon remote iPad mixing to allocate more space to the nearby food stalls.

‘How can you not enjoy working in these conditions and location? The crew is really loving the show and the Manly Beach hospitality,’ commented Chris Neal from Eclipse Lighting and Sound. ‘With great views just behind our stage, how could we not be happy. We are very pleased to be part of this great festival for the first time, and, as usual, the EV gear does the job it was designed to do.’
