EVI Philippines cooks up an EV treat for K-Pub BBQ

PHILIPPINES: Proudly boasting ‘Meat all you can’ in big letters on the exterior of its venue, Manila’s K-Pub BBQ certainly isn’t a magnet for vegetarians or seafood lovers. Located in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), diners could be mistaken for being in Seoul as the cuisine and music is decidedly Korean. Since its opening in 2013, the Korean barbeque restaurant has entertained its diners with K-Pop live music and it has clearly struck a chord with the local Filipinos. Capable of seating 420 diners, K-Pub ensures its guests are entertained with high definition widescreen LCD televisions and a large 6m x 4m videowall behind the stage used by performing artists five nights per week.
Flushed by its success, K-Pub recently expanded to new outlets in Trinoma, Metro Manila and Cebu. Having been called upon to design, supply and install the audio system in the BCG venue, EVI Philippines was called to the two new sites. ‘We installed a four per side Electro-Voice EV-A line array together with TX2181 front speakers, ELX115P monitors and ELX118P subwoofers into BCG managed by a DC One processor,’ exclaimed EVI Philippines project manager Reynaldo A Rodil. ‘It has operated seven days per week without a hitch since opening and so the owner wanted us to provide them with a similar solution for the two smaller venues.’
The Trinoma and Cebu K-Pub outlets are 250-seat restaurants, which serve the same chicken, beef and pork-based menus. The FOH SPLs are provided by an active EV ETX speaker system combining four ETX 35P three-way cabinets with four ETX 18SP subwoofers, whilst on stage monitoring is provided by four ETX12P models. Live bands are mixed on a Roland M2001 32-channel digital console connected to an S4000-3208 32x8 digital stage box with SC-W100R cabling. EVI Philippines menu was completed with the addition of four EV RE2-510 wireless microphone channels.
