Fashionable Robes

AUSTRALIA: Elite Event Technology was recently called upon to provide the full turnkey design and technical production solution for Fashfest, an annual red carpet-style fashion event that takes place at Canberra’s National Convention Centre. This included the lighting for the rig in the main showspace, which was designed by Darren Russell and based around Robe’s BMFL, Pointe and LEDWash moving lights.
‘The brief was actually to make it more theatrical and edgy this year, so lighting played a much bigger role than previously,’ recalled Mr Russell. ‘I wanted the lighting to echo the elegance, fun and creativity of the shows.’
To meet the requirements of Mr Russell’s design, Elite Event Technology supplied the 32 LEDWash 600s, 16 BMFL Spots and four BMFL WashBeams and 16 Pointes. These lit the 44m x 4m wide runway and stage area that showcased bands, DJs and other live performers on top of the fashion models and were mostly rigged on 46m x 9m wide box truss. Framing the large LED screen at the back of the stage was a pair of ladder trusses that supported 11 of the 16 Pointes, used for dynamic lighting effects. The remaining five Pointes were deployed on the front truss, alongside the BMFL WashBeams.
Blake Watkin from Elite served as the programmer and console operator for the event, while the rental company also supplied audio, video, rigging, staging and power kit for the event.
