VIETNAM: A Ho Chi Minh City-based nightclub named Red Box has recently become the first venue in the city to install a Martin Audio loudspeaker system. Measuring 300 sq-m, the club opened in December 2010, and is reportedly considered one of the most elegant and beautiful in its region.
Included within the system – designed by consultant Pham Duy Duc – are 12 units of Blackline H3+ full range cabinets with a further 12 S218 subs for low end. Powering the system meanwhile is a combination of Martin Audio amplification comprising three MA1.3s 2U lightweight amps, two four-channel MA6.8Qs, and six 1U MA5.2K amplifiers. Processing is via a DX1.5 loudspeaker management system.
The install also incorporates an Allen & Heath Zed-1402 mixer plus a TC Electronic C400XL dual gate compressor, a Behringer FBQ6200 stereo graphic equaliser and a Klark Teknik Square One EQ. Two DAS PF-115 N 15-inch loudspeakers have been installed for monitoring at the DJ position, powered by a Crown XLS-802D amplifier. A Pioneer DJM-800 DJ mixer plus two Pioneer CDJ-2000 CD decks and a Sennheiser e-845 microphone complete the design.
Red Box owner Nguyen Van Thien – described as a mainstay of the bar and nightclub industry in Ho Chi Minh City – reportedly decided to switch to Martin Audio having been impressed by the Blackline range following Mr Duy Duc’s consultation.
