Flik TV launches with Cloudport

INDONESIA: Amagi’s Cloudport channel playout platform has been deployed at the recently launched Indonesian movie channel, Flik TV. A premium HD channel, Flik TV was reportedly able to go live for a fraction of traditional satellite delivery costs and in a matter of weeks due to the Cloudport platform, which Amagi implemented with its managed playout service.

The Cloudport platform is capable of supporting the channel’s entire playout workflow, including content preparation, storage and archiving, playlist management, scheduling and graphics insertion, as well as playout, delivery, and monitoring. It can be integrated seamlessly with third party scheduling, automation and asset management systems, which reportedly helped to facilitate a quick deployment at Flik TV.

Flik TV has migrated all of its content assets to the cloud in a decision made so that the channel can expand easily into new geographic territories, as well as to potentially adapt to become an OTT (over the top) multi-screen service. ‘Prior to the channel launch, we considered satellite delivery, but ultimately turned to the cloud for playout economics and the ability to scale on an as-needed basis,’ explained Flik TV COO, Lavesh Samtani. ‘Hosted on the reliable Amazon AWS cloud infrastructure, the Amagi Cloudport makes it simple for us to manage video and audio assets, launch additional feeds in new regions with a short time to market, and minimise capital expenditure and operating expense.’

‘Cloudport simplifies the entire broadcast workflow, enabling content owners and TV networks to quickly and profitably launch new TV channels,’ added Amagi co-founder, K A Srinivasan. ‘By embracing the cloud for channel playout, Flik TV now has the financial freedom to launch feeds in new regions in less than four weeks.’
