Good-Sound invests in Active Audio

WORLD: French loudspeaker manufacturer Active Audio has received investment from Good-Sound, a fund created and managed by the founder of Focal-JMlab, Jacques Mahul. The cash injection will reportedly allow the manufacturer to launch further new products and boost recruitment.

The Good-Sound investment fund was set up early last year, just prior to the sale of Mr Mahul’s shares in the Focal&Naim group that he founded. With capital of $7.9 million, the fund looks to support companies seeking investment to ramp up development – particularly in the A/V and telecoms sectors. Good-Sound's interest in Active Audio was realised in favour of increasing the company's capital.

‘We have a highly ambitious programme for developing innovative products over the next three years,’ explained Régis Cazin, CEO of Active Audio. ‘We are looking to strengthen our status as an expert in improving the intelligibility of PA systems. Jacques Mahul's addition to the company represents a tremendous opportunity on both a financial and human level.’

‘There are only a handful of companies in France that feature such a wealth of audio talent under the same roof,' added Mr Mahul. 'I crossed paths with Active Audio in a previous life and I admired their ability to break new ground. I was keen to join forces and share my experience in an area that continues to excite me and which I know intimately.’
