Grass Valley secures widespread ABC upgrade
Published: ASIA

AUSTRALIA: Grass Valley has signed an agreement with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to provide what is reportedly one of the largest single-system upgrades ever carried out in the country. A ‘major technology refresh’ of the broadcaster’s studios at all Australian sites will see Grass Valley’s GV Status production and content management solution becoming the cornerstone.
The solution will also include the manufacturer’s Eduis nonlinear editing software and K2 Summit 3G media servers, as well as Netia’s Radio-Assist 8 platform and the Associated Press’ AP ENPS 7 scripting system – both of which will reportedly be ‘deeply integrated into GV Status.
The project is the culmination of a multi-year tender process and negotiation based on a ‘detailed and exhaustive’ evaluation of available technology. The installation will be implemented over two and a half years in each of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s major news and current affairs facilities with the manufacturer being responsible for aspects of design, planning, implementation, commissioning, training and ongoing support.
