Harman and EampE part ways in Malaysia and Singapore

MALAYSIA & SINGAPORE: The Kuala Lumpur headquarters for Harman has announced a number of changes in its working relationships in south east Asia.

Mark Lim has been appointed as the new regional sales director for the region, overseeing developments in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam with immediate effect. Mr Lim was previously employed as the group sales manager at Harman distributor Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore. As a result, Thomas Marcher now manages China, Hong Kong, Philippines and Taiwan, whilst Rodney Houston looks after Australia, Japan, Korea and New Zealand.

In a further twist, Harman has also announced that it will be changing its distribution plans in Malaysia and Singapore from 1st February 2011. Located in both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore respectively, Mahajak Sdn Bhd and Mahajak Pte Ltd will assume responsibility for the distribution of the AKG, BSS, Crown, DBX, JBL, Lexicon, Soundcraft and Studer brands.

Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd was originally appointed as the distributor for JBL in 1994 and gradually took on all the other brands in the Harman portfolio with the exception of AKG. ‘I’d like to go on the record regarding what a fantastic job E&E have done for us over all these years,’ commented chief sales director David McKinney. ‘We look forward to continuing our working relationship with E&E by supplying them with Harman products for all the prestigious installations that they are contracted to work on, such as Marina Bay Sands.’
