HK Audio increases high-gain intelligibility for Yookyoung Foundation

KOREA: An HK Audio Cadis system has been installed into Yookyoung Foundation’s 700-capacity concert hall in Seoul. The project was carried out by KSV Corporation, an appointed dealer of HK Audio’s Korean distributor, Sama Sound, to provide high intelligibility at high volumes – something that the previous system in place was unable to achieve.
‘For this venue, which hosts so many different events and which has its control room on the floor above, the engineer needed a powerful and flexible system that could provide great sound for any type of occasion,’ explained Jesse Park, product manager at Sama Sound.
Before embarking on the project, Yookyoung Foundation sound engineer Choi Heunghyun and Sama Sound tested HK products against the competition. ‘At the start of the process, Mr Choi had a few different sound systems in mind for the job,’ added Mr Park. ‘But after demoing the Cadis, he was extremely impressed with the system’s sound transparency and was convinced it was the right choice for the concert hall.’
KSV opted to install a system comprised of eight CAD 208 top cabinets and four CAD 115 subwoofers, with two Cadis stacking frames, two connector frames and four sub connector sets used for increased stability. Four L5 112 X enclosures are used for monitoring and the entire setup is run through an HK Audio FirNet Controller.
‘As the sound engineer for a public institution, one must consider various factors,’ concluded Mr Choi. ‘Often, the most important aspect is cost-effectiveness. You need a system that offers superior performance at a reasonable price, and Cadis does this remarkably well. But most of all, I’m just incredibly pleased with the quality of the sound.
