IIR to launch Vietnamese broadcast show

VIETNAM: The first international broadcast exhibition and conference to be held in Vietnam is set to launch in November 2011, when exhibitions company IIR stages Broadcast Media Tech (BMT).
With IIR promising to target markets including broadcasting, cabling, satellite, IP and new media technologies, the exhibition will take place at the Vietnam Exhibition and Fair centre (VEFAC) in Hanoi between November 2nd and 4th. Vietnam currently boasts one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, and despite the fact that only four million pay-TV households currently exist in a population of 86 million, the potential is enormous.
‘The switch from analogue to digital for all 67 TV stations in Vietnam in the next decade translates to a high demand and need for technical know-how for broadcast equipment, systems integration and services,’ commented IIR divisional director David Lim. ‘In a recent draft of the master plan for radio and TV broadcasting platform development until 2020, digitalisation of TV broadcasting from now until 2020 is estimated at US$231 million. Vietnam is also moving into IPTV and mobile TV market. Although all TV and radio stations are government owned, they all have independent purchasing power.’
BMT will co-exist with the 2011 PALME Vietnam show, whose dates have been shifted from the previously announced 26th to 28th October to the new November slot.
