Imagine ensures ‘non-stop performance’ for Workpoint Entertainment

THAILAND: Imagine Communications playout automation, content management, and signal processing and distribution solutions have been implemented at Workpoint Entertainment in Bangkok, one of Thailand’s leading digital broadcasters. Designed and installed by the manufacturer’s Thai distributor, B.E.C. Co Ltd, the new solution replaced a third-party ‘channel-in-a-box’ system aiming to provide added reliability and non-stop performance.

‘Our previous playout system often suffered from on-air disturbances,’ explained Sudthipoj Sriphen, chief editor at Workpoint Entertainment. ‘That is never good for maintaining audience loyalty. We knew we needed to move to a top-quality automation system. We have a long-standing relationship with Advanced Broadcast Corporation and B.C.E. Co Ltd, and they had no hesitation in recommending a complete package from Imagine Communications. They were right and we now have a system we can rely on.’

The solution features an Imagine ADC automated content management and distribution system, including List Redundancy Control Client (LRCC) software intended to increase reliability. This is enhanced with Nexio Motion software running on a Nexio playout server. The Nexio Farad online storage server network is configured for Raid 601 with Intrinsic Mirroring. This reportedly helps to further improve reliability over the previous playout system.

A new core infrastructure has also been supplied as part of the upgrade. This included a Nexio IconMaster branding and master control switcher linked to a Panacea small-scale router and Platinum with integrated Predator II GX multiviewer. Signal Processing and loudness control is handled by Selenio 6800+, X50 and X85s.
