J Davis Prosound reignites disco fever in India with L-Acoustics

INDIA: Bangalore-based J Davis Prosound & Lighting was responsible for providing the complete technical infrastructure for an historic two-country tour with disco icons Boney M recently. With concerts taking place both at the YMCA in Nandhanam, Chennai as well as the Nehru Stadium in Pune, the J Davis crew teamed up with event organisers Black & White Oman and opted to deploy an L-Acoustics V-Dosc system as the main PA.

The PA system used for both nights featured 20 L-Acoustics V-Dosc elements and 16 subwoofers, with additional fills supplied by 12 DV-Dosc and eight Arcs cabinets. Power was derived from L-Acoustics LA 48a amplifiers and two Avid SC 48 digital consoles were deployed at front of house for mixing.

On-stage monitoring was provided by eight Martin Audio LE 1500 floor monitors and two DV subs. Personal monitors were provided for the vocalists in the form of Sennheiser G3 E300 IEMs. Shure UHF R Series microphones were also provided for the band.

J Davis was also responsible for the event’s lighting complement and erected a 17m x 14m x 9m Wefia Truss to accommodate the fixtures. A total of eight Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE 1200s, 12 Elation Platinum Beam 5Rs, 16 Silverstar Cyan 8000 XE LED moving head wash lights, eight ETC Profile spots and two FAL 2500 W follow spots were used. Control came from an Avolites Pearl 2010 lighting controller.
